Marathon hands Stratford boys basketball its first loss

MARATHON – Marathon outscored Stratford by nine points in the second half to hand the Stratford boys basketball team its first loss of the season, winning 61-55 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Friday at Marathon High School.

Stratford led 21-18 at halftime before Marathon roared back to snag the win. Both teams are now 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the Marawood South.

Cam Daul scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Ashton Wrensch added eight points and six rebounds for Stratford.

Marathon statistics were not reported.

Both teams return to action Tuesday with Marawood South matchups at home. Marathon will host first-place Wausau Newman Catholic, and Stratford will be at home to take on Edgar. Both games will be live at zaleskisports.com.
