Spencer/Columbus Catholic wrestler Treyton Ackman has been voted as the MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports December High School Athlete of the Month.
The High School Athlete of the Month Award main sponsor for the 2021-22 school year is Awards ‘n’ More of Wisconsin Rapids. The monthly award will continue through June 2022, and the winner of the MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports High School Athlete of the Year will be announced in July.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Amherst, Athens, Assumption, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Iola-Scandinavia, Loyal, Marshfield, Mosinee, Neillsville, Newman Catholic, Pacelli, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Rosholt, Spencer, Stratford, Stevens Point, Wild Rose and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln.
Ackman tallied nearly half of the 6,530 votes cast during voting from Jan. 4-10 at MarshfieldAreaSports.com.
Other nominees for the December award were: Marshfield wrestler Hoyt Blaskowski, Wisconsin Rapids girls basketball player Megan Clary, Stratford boys basketball player Camden Daul, Wild Rose girls basketball player Laney Havlovitz, and Amherst girls basketball player Sydney Lehman.
Ackman, a senior, won the 120-pound title at the Bi-State Classic in La Crosse on Dec. 29-30. Ackman won the championship match with a 6-1 decision to finish December with a perfect 18-0 record.
