MARATHON – Jaden Koeller and Grant Warren each scored 13 points in the second half to lift Marathon to a 57-44 win over Auburndale in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Friday at Marathon High School.
Marathon improves to 11-1 overall and 8-1 in the Marawood South, maintaining its tie for first place in the conference standings with Stratford. The Raiders also ended Auburndale’s five-game winning streak, knocking the Eagles to 6-7 overall and 4-5 in the Marawood South.
The game was tied at 24-24 at halftime before the Marathon duo took over.
Warren finished with 19 points and Koeller had 17 in the victory for Marathon.
Caden Weinfurter had 16 points and eight rebounds for Auburndale, which shot just 32 percent from the field and went 8-for-31 from 3-point range.
Marathon plays a nonconference game at Mosinee on Tuesday and a Marawood crossover game at Athens on Thursday. Auburndale will return to action Thursday with a crossover contest at Rib Lake.
