WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Stratford boys basketball team jumped out to a 12-point lead by halftime and cruised to a 63-37 win over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Friday at Assumption High School.
Stratford is now 12-1 overall and improves to 8-1 in the Marawood Conference South Division, maintaining a tie for the conference lead with Marathon, a winner over Auburndale on Friday.
Stratford pulled out to a 30-18 halftime lead and outscored the Royals by 14 points in the second half to finish off the win.
Camden Daul scored 19 points, Braeden Schueller added 11, and Ashton Wrensch had 10 for Stratford, which shot an efficient 54 percent (20-for-37) in the victory.
Alec Sullivan had a pair of 3-pointers and finished with eight points for Assumption (4-7, 3-5 Marawood South).
Stratford hosts Nekoosa on Monday and plays at Wausau East on Tuesday in a pair of nonconference games. Assumption jumps back into action Saturday with a nonconference game against Shullsburg at Just-A-Game Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells.
