Auburndale girls basketball tops Stratford in overtime

STRATFORD – The Auburndale girls basketball team overcame a five-point halftime to force overtime and went on to defeat Stratford 43-39 in a hard-fought Marawood Conference South Division battle Tuesday at Stratford High School.

Stratford led 25-20 at halftime before Auburndale stormed back to tie the game at 37-37 at the end of regulation, holding the Tigers just four made baskets and 12 points in the second half.

Annamarie Aue scored all six of the Eagles’ points in overtime to finish with a team-high 13 in the win. Auburndale improves to 12-3 overall and 8-1 in the Marawood South, maintaining a one-half game lead over Assumption in the conference standings.

Tessa Berg had 13 points for Stratford (8-8, 4-5 Marawood South).

Auburndale plays at Rib lake and Stratford at Phillips in Marawood Conference crossover games on Friday.
