Phillips outlasts Auburndale in battle of Marawood girls basketball division leaders

PHILLIPS – Phillips erased a six-point halftime deficit with a dominant second half and pulled away to defeat Auburndale 76-64 in a battle of Marawood Conference girls basketball divisional leaders on Tuesday at Phillips High School.

Auburndale led 39-33 at halftime before the Loggers stormed back, outscoring the Eagles 43-25 over the final 18 minutes to earn the victory.

Jada Eggebrecht scored 32 points and Jensen Weik added 15 for Phillips, which improves to 14-2 overall and continues to lead the Marawood North at 10-0.

Annamarie Aue scored 20 points and Gracie Krings had 15 points for Auburndale, which drops to 13-4 overall and 9-2 in the Marawood South. The loss knocks the Eagles into a first-place tie in the South standings with Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.

Auburndale hosts Wausau Newman Catholic on Thursday.
