Marshfield graduate Ethan Finlay lifts Creighton to Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title

OMAHA, Neb. – Ethan Finlay, a 2008 Marshfield High School graduate, is the leading scorer for the Creighton University men’s soccer team.

Finlay is tied for the Missouri Valley Conference lead and ranks eighth in the NCAA in goals scored with 12 and is first in the MVC and 11th nationally with 28 points heading into this weekend’s MVC Tournament at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.

Finlay helped the Bluejays to the regular-season Missouri Valley title with a 5-1-1 record (12-4-1 overall).

Creighton earned a first-round bye and will play the winner of Thursday’s Drake-Bradley match at 6 p.m. Friday. The championship match is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.

Creighton started the season 11-2 before going 1-2-1 in its last four games. Finlay had a goal and an assist in a 2-2 tie with Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville on Oct. 30 and an assist in a 2-0 win over Missouri State on Nov. 3.
