Athens edges Stratford girls basketball

ATHENS – The Athens girls basketball team won its third game in a row as it held off Stratford 39-38 in a Marawood Conference crossover game Tuesday at Athens High School.

Jazelle Hartwig and McKennzie Schug each scored 10 points for Athens, which is now 19-4 overall and 11-4 in the Marawood North.

Bailey Linzmaier scored nine points, and Lauren Kraus had seven points and 11 rebounds for Stratford (10-12, 6-9 Marawood South).

Both teams will finish their regular-season schedules Thursday. Stratford plays a Marawood South game at Wausau Newman Catholic and Athens will be at home to play a Marawood North game against Chequamegon.
