LOYAL – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team set up a winner-take-all Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup with Neillsville next week after defeating Loyal 65-41 on Friday night at Loyal High School.
The Dons led by five points at halftime before opening it up, outscoring Loyal by 19 points in the second half.
Emmitt Konieczny had 19 points, Sam Wilczek added 16, and Blake Jakobi chipped in 11 for Columbus Catholic, which improves to 19-3 overall and 12-1 in the Cloverbelt East.
The Dons are now tied with Neillsville for first place in the conference standings with one game remaining. The two leaders face off for the title at 7:15 p.m. Monday at Neillsville High School. The game will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.
Deegan Sandelier had 12 points for Loyal (9-12, 6-7 Cloverbelt East).
Loyal finishes its conference schedule at Owen-Withee on Monday.
