Dominant second half pushes Stratford boys basketball past Weyauwega-Fremont in Division 4 regional semifinal

STRATFORD – The Stratford boys basketball team outscored Weyauwega-Fremont by 19 points in the second half to break open a tight game and pull out a 71-50 win in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal Friday night at Stratford High School.

Stratford led 27-25 at halftime before dominating the second half with a 44-point explosion to earn the victory.

No. 2 seed Stratford (21-4) will host No. 3 seed Marathon (21-4) in a Division 4 regional final Saturday at 7 p.m. Marathon won both of the Marawood Conference South Division matchups this season over the Tigers. The game will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.

Ashton Wrensch went 8-for-8 at the free throw line and scored a team-high 22 points for Stratford. Cam Daul added 15 points, and Braeden Schueller made three 3-pointers and added 13 points in the win.

The Tigers finished 16-for-20 at the free throw line.

Weyauwega-Fremont finishes the season with a 12-14 record.
