PITTSVILLE – The Pittsville baseball team swept a nonconference doubleheader over Spencer on Saturday, winning 6-2 and 12-4 at Pittsville High School.
Logan Zickert earned the win in Game 1 for the Panthers, allowing two runs and three hits in five innings with seven strikeouts.
Noah Grimm had three hits, including a double, and scored twice, and Easton Dammann had two hits and two RBIs, and also scored twice for Pittsville. Brad Neve and Zickert both added a pair of hits for the Panthers.
Kaiden Miller went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for Spencer. Andrew Sieracki took the loss on the mound.
In Game 2, Dammann earned the victory, striking out three in six innings. Noah Grimm and Neve each had three RBIs, and Dylan Luther and Waylon Grimm both drove in two for Pittsville.
Reed Knecht was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Peyton Brookhart also drove in a pair for the Rockets. Luke Roehrborn suffered the pitching loss.
The Rockets were playing their season opener. Spencer is scheduled to host Owen-Withee in its Cloverbelt Conference East Division opener Tuesday.
