PITTSVILLE – The Columbus Catholic softball team took advantage of 16 walks and pounded Pittsville 19-1 in a nonconference game Monday.
The Dons scored 13 times in the second inning and rolled to the victory, which ended after just three innings.
Mattea Schlafke had three hits and three RBI, Akosua Yeboah added two hits and five RBI, and Hailey Zimmermann picked up the win on the mound, striking out eight, and added two hits and four runs scored in the victory for Columbus Catholic (1-1).
Columbus Catholic is scheduled to open its Cloverbelt Conference East Division schedule at Colby on Thursday.
