Marshfield baseball drops twinbill at Hudson

HUDSON – The Marshfield baseball team dropped both ends of a nonconference doubleheader on Saturday, losing to Hudson 22-3 and 4-0 at Hudson Middle School.

Hudson put up 18 runs in the bottom of the first inning of the opening game and rolled to the victory.

Marshfield was limited to three hits in the five-inning loss, two from Ben Dietsche, who also had an RBI. Cody Donahue also had an RBI for the Tigers.

Jack Busson went 3-for-5 with five RBI for Hudson (5-0), which took advantage of five walks in the opening inning and finished with 15 hits. Marshfield also committed 10 errors.

Three Hudson pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout in the second game as Owen Weadge earned the win, striking out 10 in 5 1/3 innings.

Mason Pavloski, Cole Halvorsen and Chase Robinson each had singles for Marshfield in the loss.

Marshfield (0-4) will search for its first win of the season when it hosts Wausau West in its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field. The game will be live at zaleskisports.com.
