ALMOND – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic softball team dropped a 9-5 decision to Almond-Bancroft in a nonconference game Tuesday at Almond-Bancroft High Schol.
Sam Casperson had two hits, including a three-run home run, to lead the way for Columbus Catholic (1-3).
Hailey Zimmermann suffered the loss for the Dons, giving up six hits and six walks, with four strikeouts and four earned runs allowed in six innings pitched. She also had a double and a walk offensively.
Akosua Yeboah had a double, and Cierra Dieringer added a single and scored twice for the Dons.
Columbus Catholic will play its home and Cloverbelt Conference East Division opener Friday against Owen-Withee. The game will start at 5 p.m. at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
