MARSHFIELD – Courtney Donahue tossed a six-inning no-hitter and Marshfield smacked a pair of home runs as the Tigers softball team rolled past Wausau East 10-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Thursday at Madison Field.
Donahue struck out 12 and walked one in the no-hit effort for the Tigers, who are now 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. The game was the season opener for Wausau East.
Sandy Costa and Madalen Bornbach both had home runs and drove in three, and Brooklyn Bohman had two RBI and scored twice for Marshfield, which had 10 hits in all.
Marshfield will host a pair of games on Friday, weather permitting. Marshfield will play a Wisconsin Valley Conference game against Merrill at 3:30 p.m. and then take on Eau Claire North in a nonconference game at 5:45 p.m. at Madison Field.
