MOSINEE – Mosinee scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and hung on the rest of the way to defeat Marshfield 6-5 in a nonconference baseball game Monday at Mosinee High School.
Mosinee led 4-0 after two innings before Marshfield plated five innings in the top of the fourth to grab the lead.
Cody Donahue doubled home Cole Halvorsen, who had singled, and four runs scored on a pair of Mosinee errors later in the inning to put the Tigers on top 5-4.
Mosinee rallied in the bottom of the fifth. A double steal, with Keagan Jirschele stealing home, tied the game at 5-5 and Gavin Obremski singled home Trevor Garski with the go-ahead run.
Eli Miland shut the door to finish off the win three shutout innings of relief. He struck out three and didn’t walk a batter.
Marshfield had two runners on with one out in the top of the seventh before Miland coaxed consecutive fielder’s choice groundballs to slam the door.
Mosinee (7-1) will play at Medford on Wednesday and Marshfield (0-9) is back in action at Medford on Thursday.
