SPENCER – Wittenberg-Birnamwood blew open a tight game with a seven-run seventh inning and defeated Spencer 16-8 in a nonconference baseball game Friday at Spencer High School.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood (7-1) led 9-7 after six innings before the big seventh frame all but finished off the Rockets (1-6).
Kaiden Miller went 4-for-4, Madden Prybylski and Reed Knecht each had three hits, and Connor Bacon added three RBI for Spencer.
The Chargers had 21 hits in all, with Max Fraaza hitting a home run and driving in three runs, and Nathan Waupekenay finishing with four RBI.
Spencer hosts Abbotsford/Colby for a nonconference game at 5 p.m. Monday.
