STRATFORD – Auburndale used a four-run fourth inning to pull ahead and pitcher Ashlyn Grimm and the Eagles’ defense did the rest as they defeated Stratford 5-2 in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Thursday at Hilgemann Field.
After giving up two runs in the second inning, Grimm shutout Stratford the rest of the way to earn the win. She finished with four strikeouts and gave up five hits and three walks in a complete-game effort.
Grimm also added two hits and two RBI in the win for Auburndale (3-6, 2-5 Marawood South).
Erin Griesbach went 3-for-4 and Samantha Stanton was 2-for-4 as well for Auburndale, which had 10 hits in all.
Meg Wiese had two of Stratford’s five hits. The Tigers fall to 5-6 and 2-5 in the Marawood South.
Auburndale will host Prentice and Stratford will be at home against Chequmaegon in nonconference action Friday. Both games start at 4:45 p.m.
