CEDARBURG – The Marshfield softball team won one of three games at the Cedarburg Invitational on Saturday.
Playing a rare tripleheader, Marshfield, ranked No. 10 in this week’s Wissports.com Division 1 state coaches poll, defeated Burlington 4-0 in the opener, but lost its next two to Sussex Hamilton 5-3 and No. 6-ranked Cedarburg 9-1.
Courtney Donahue threw a one-hit shutout in the opening game against Burlington, striking out nine. She also added two hits and Shylah Brogan had two RBI in the win for the Tigers.
Sussex Hamilton scored four times in the first inning and held on the rest of the way.
Sandy Costa took the loss for the Tigers, striking out nine without a walk. Donahue, Madalen Bornbach and Madison Voss drove in the three Marshfield runs.
Donahue picked up two doubles and Voss knocked in the Tigers’ lone run in the loss to Cedarburg.
