OWEN – Owen-Withee rallied down five runs in the seventh inning to force an extra frame, but Columbus Catholic was unfazed and scored twice in the top of the eighth to stay perfect this season, winning 11-9 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Tuesday at Owen-Withee High School.

The Dons built a 9-4 lead after scoring twice in the top of the seventh, but Owen-Withee scored five times before Emmitt Konieczny got the final two outs to squelch the rally.

Columbus Catholic responded with two runs in the top of the eighth and Konieczny shut the Blackhawks down in the bottom of the frame to finish off the victory and push the Dons’ record to 12-0 overall and 8-0 in the Cloverbelt East.

Konieczny went 4-for-6 with a double and two runs scored, and Brock Bennington, Cole Timmler and Xane Adler all hit home runs for the Dons.

Grant Olson and Adler both had three hits, and Bennington finished with three RBI for Columbus.

Gage Hanson went 3-for-5 with three RBI to lead Owen-Withee (2-8, 1-7 Cloverbelt East).

Columbus Catholic travels to Greenwood and Owen-Withee will be at Loyal on Thursday.
