MARSHFIELD – Columbus Catholic earned a walk-off win, scoring on an error in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Spencer 12-11 in a wild Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball matchup Friday at Jack Hackman Field.

The Dons remain undefeated in the Cloverbelt East with the win, improving to 13-0 overall and 9-0 in the conference.

Spencer misplayed a groundball with two outs and the bases loaded that allowed Blake Jakobi to score with the winning run.

Spencer led 7-3 after Kaiden Miller and Andrew Sieracki had back-to-back doubles to plate two runs in the top of the fourth.

The Dons responded with a four-run bottom of the frame, keyed by an RBI double by Emmitt Konieczny and a two-run home run by Brock Bennington, to tie the game at 7-7.

The teams exchanged leads with Spencer pulling ahead again in the sixth as Sieracki smacked a three-run home run to put the Rockets up 11-9.

Columbus rallied with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as Cole Timmler had an RBI triple and scored on a single by Cy Becker to tie the game, then delivered the walk-off win in the seventh.

Bennington finished 4-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored to pace the Columbus offense.

Columbus Catholic will compete at the Rosholt Triangular on Saturday. The Dons will take on Rosholt at 10 a.m. and Amherst at 12:30 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on zaleskisports.com.

Spencer’s next game is Monday at home against Stanley-Boyd.
