GREENWOOD – Erin Griesbach and Ashlyn Grimm scored on a two-out error in the top of the seventh inning to lift the Auburndale softball team to a come-from-behind 7-6 win over Loyal/Greenwood on Monday at George Scherer Athletic Park.
The Greenhounds led 6-3 after three innings following RBI hits by Zaida Brock and Mesa Rasmussen, a bases-loaded walk, a sacrifice fly by Mya Rueth, and a run-scoring error in a five-run third inning.
Auburndale fought back to get back to within one as Kimmie Lundgren delivered a two-run single in the fifth, setting up the game-winning rally in the seventh.
Grimm threw a complete game with 14 strikeouts and six walks to pick up the victory for the Eagles (9-8).
Mya Krings had a solo home run to lead off the game for Auburndale.
Rasmussen finished 3-for-4 with two RBI for Loyal/Greenwood.
Both teams will wrap up their regular-season schedules Tuesday at home. Auburndale will host Pittsville and Loyal/Greenwood will be at home against Fall Creek in Greenwood.
