AUBURNDALE – Ashlyn Grimm smacked a three-run home run and struck out 12 in a complete game effort to lead the Auburndale softball team to a 9-3 win over Necedah in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal Tuesday at Auburndale High School.
The Eagles scored five times in the second inning as Erin Griesbach delivered a sacrifice fly and Grimm followed with the long ball to left-center field.
Auburndale added three more in the fourth and Josie Ertl launched a solo home run in the fifth to finish off the Eagles’ scoring.
Grimm allowed just two hits and walked four to earn the win in the circle, and finished with four RBI.
No. 3 seed Auburndale (11-8) will host No. 7 Marathon (6-17) in a regional final Thursday at 4:45 p.m. Marathon upset No. 2 seed Markesan 17-7 on Tuesday.
