RICE LAKE – Stratford earned four top-four finishes to grab state meet berths at the WIAA Division 2 Track & Field Sectional on Thursday at Rice Lake High School.
The top four finishers in each event at the sectional qualify for the 2022 WIAA State Track & Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on June 3-4.
Jaidyn Wright finished second in the girls triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, 8 inches, to earn a spot at state.
The Stratford boys had three state qualifiers. Conner Weigel took fourth in the 400 meters in 51.35 seconds, and teamed with Jett Schoenherr, Elijah Lucio and Noah Lucio to take third in the 1,600 relay in 3:30.32.
The Tigers’ 3,200 relay team of Elijah Lucio, Lance Krieg, Garrett Zuelke and Noah Lucio placed second in 8:19.49 to also snag a state berth.
