MARSHFIELD – Columbus Catholic used a seven-run second inning to pull ahead and rolled to an 11-1 win over Spencer in a WIAA Division 4 baseball regional semifinal Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field.
Spencer took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Connor Bacon that plated Luke Roehrborn.
The Dons responded with a seven-run eruption in the bottom of the frame with the help of three walks and a three-run double by Blake Jakobi, who went opposite field with a rope to left-center.
Columbus pitcher Cy Becker blanked the Rockets (7-15) the rest of the way and finished with five strikeouts and just two hits allowed, both in the second inning.
