LA CROSSE – Auburndale’s Terrance Roberson earned gold, Spencer’s Leah Zastrow finished second in the Division 3 pole vault and the Stratford picked up two Division 2 medals at the second day of the 2022 WIAA State Track & Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday.
Roberson won the Division 3 boys long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 11¾ inches, to win a gold medal Saturday as the state meet was completed.
Zastrow finished second at the state meet for the second year in a row as she finished with a vault of 11-6 to earn her third career medal.
Stratford earned two fourth-place medals Saturday as Jaidyn Wright was fourth in the girls triple jump (36-1 ½) and the boys 1,600 relay team of Conner Weigel, Jett Schoenherr, Elijah Lucio and Noah Lucio took fourth in 3:27.65.
Weigel placed 10th in the boys 400 (52.06) and the 3,200 relay team of Elijah Lucio, Lance Krieg, Garrett Zuelke and Noah Lucio finished ninth in 8:20.29 as well for Stratford.
Auburndale’s boys 3,200 relay team of Ian Grosskopf, Mason White Eagle, Alex Mikes and Charles Jewell finished 15th in 8:54.12.
Also in Division 3, the Columbus Catholic duo of brothers Andrew and Isaac Scheer did not medal. Andrew just missed out, finishing seventh in the 3,200 in 9:46.18 and Isaac was 16th in 10:23.86.
Marshfield’s three competitors in Division 1 failed to earn top-six medals.
Aubri Brown finished 10th in the girls shot put (36-8 ¾), Dani Minsaas was 12th in the girls high jump (5-0), and the boys 3,200 relay team of Henry Hoerneman, Jesse Messmann, Owen Hoerneman and James Ketterer finished 13th in 8:10.64.
