CRIVITZ – Another impressive season for the Stratford baseball team came to an end in the WIAA Division 3 sectional semifinals with a 5-3 loss to Oconto on Tuesday.
Oconto greeted Stratford pitcher Cam Daul with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning as Conner Christensen doubled in a run and scored on a wild pitch, and the Blue Devils never trailed.
A hit batter and three singles in the fifth gave the Blue Devils three more runs before Stratford finally got on the board in the bottom of the frame.
Singles by Brady Schmidt and Dillon Kirsch, an error and two walks led to three runs for the Tigers to close the gap.
Stratford loaded the bases in the sixth and had one on in the seventh, but couldn’t get any closer and finish the season with an 18-6 record.
Dillon Kirsch and Jackson Ormond each had two hits for Stratford, which was limited to just six in total.
Oconto lost 10-0 to Amherst in the sectional championship game later Tuesday.
