The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team came out hot early but couldn’t hold the momentum and dropped an 88-59 decision to UW-Waukesha on Saturday at the UW-Marshfield Gym.
The Marauders held a 10-point lead midway through the first half but Waukesha rallied and led 43-31 at halftime.
“Once again, turnovers caused us quite a few problems, as did a lack of offensive rebounding,” Marauders coach Lori Galetka said. “Waukesha has a quick, athletic team and we needed to work harder on the boards and on making good passes.”
Paige Albrecht led the Marauders with 24 points and five assists, and Marissa Draxler added 15 points and five assists in the loss.
UW-Marshfield (1-4, 1-2 Wisconsin Collegiate Conference) hosts UW-Richland at 5 p.m. Monday. The men’s team will play Richland at 7 p.m.
