Marshfield Senior Legion shuts out Merrill

MERRILL – Kale Weisenberger and Carsten Jirschele combined on a three-hit shutout as the Marshfield Senior Legion baseball team blanked Merrill 11-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Legion League game Wednesday at Athletic Park.

Weisenberger pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit and one walk with six strikeouts to earn the win. Jirschele finished up, getting the final five outs with two hits allowed.

Logan Homolka had a single, two doubles, and five RBI, and Bennett Lang and Riley Bauman each drove in two runs for Marshfield, which is now 15-8 overall and 8-2 in the WVLL.

Marshfield, winners of four games in a row, hosts Wausau on Thursday at Jack Hackman Field.
