EAU CLAIRE – The Marshfield Post 54 Senior Legion baseball team ran its record to 3-0 at the Eau Claire Legion Tournament with a pair of wins on Saturday.
Marshfield defeated Winona LeJetz (Minn.) 2-1 and Eau Claire 6-5 in nine innings to run its season record to 18-9 overall.
Marshfield scored single tallies in the first and third innings on RBI from Riley Bauman and Cole Timmler.
Brady Schmidt tossed a complete game for Marshfield to earn the victory as he allowed just three walks and four hits while striking out three.
A sacrifice fly by Timmler scored Bauman with the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning to win the nightcap over Eau Claire.
Bauman smacked a three-run home run in the fourth inning to give Marshfield a 5-3 lead before Eau Claire rallied in the bottom of the frame to tie it.
The even score held until the ninth as Marshfield starting pitcher Kale Weisenberger went the first seven and Bauman tossed two shutout innings to earn the win.
Bauman and Ben Dietsche each went 3-for-5, with Nick Urban, Logan Homolka and Bennett Lang each adding a pair of hits in the win for the Blue Devils.
Marshfield will play for the tournament championship on Sunday against De Pere at 1:30 p.m. at Carson Park.
