Marshfield boys swim team opens season with 2nd-place finish at SPASH Invitational

STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield boys swim team opened its season by taking second place Tuesday at the five-team Stevens Point Area Senior High Panther Invitational.

The Tigers got first-place finishes from Ade Dillon in the 50-yard butterfly (25.95 seconds) and the 400 freestyle relay team of Michael Josephson, Jake Akin, Aaron Scheets and Dillon in 3:42.83.

The Marshfield 200 medley relay team of Scheets, Josephson, Dillon and Akin was second in 1:50.61 and Scheets also took second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.53.

The Tigers also had a pair of third-place finishes – Scheets in the 200 individual medley (2:16.12) and Akin in the 100 free (56.94).

Stevens Point won the meet with 179 points, 60 more than Marshfield. Wisconsin Rapids was third with 101.

The Tigers are off until they swim at the Chippewa Falls Invitational on Dec. 4.
