Marshfield Junior Legion drops regional opener to Wausau

MERRILL – The Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team lost its opening game at the U-17 regional tournament on Thursday, falling to Wausau 10-0.

Marshfield (13-15) drops into the loser’s bracket and will play an elimination game at noon on Friday at Athletic Park.

Marshfield was held to three hits in the five-inning game that was shortened due to the 10-run rule.

Chase Robinson had two of the hits and Aden Cherney the other for the Junior Devils.

Brady Schmidt allowed five runs in the first inning, and Zander Edmundson pitched the final 3 2/3 innings, giving up five more runs for Marshfield.
