First-period onslaught enough for Northland Pines in win over Marshfield boys hockey

MARSHFIELD – Northland Pines scored four goals in the first period and rolled to a 6-1 win over Marshfield in the boys hockey season opener for both teams Tuesday at the Marshfield Youth Ice and Recreation Arena.

Adam Kresl scored 4:10 into the game to give Pines a 1-0 lead.

Marshfield immediately responded when Austin Littmann scored off an assist by Zac Albroeo just 1:26 later.

However, the Eagles scored three more goals in a stretch of 3:19 to take control.

Pines scored two more goals in the second period to take a 6-1 lead.

Mac Albroeo had 28 saves in goal for the Tigers.

Marshfield is back in action Friday and Saturday at a tournament in Tomah.
