Marshfield boys hockey team grabs first win of season

TOMAH – The Marshfield boys hockey team earned a split at the Tomah Tournament, beating Black River Falls 5-1 on Saturday.

Marshfield scored a pair of goals in the second period added three more in the third to post its first win of the season.

Austin Littman got the ball rolling, scoring a goal early in the second period. Alex Krasne added another just a few minutes later to put Marshfield up 2-0.

After Black River Falls cut the deficit in half with a goal by Brandon Skelding midway through the second period, Marshfield put the game away with three goals in the third.

Cole Irish scored on an assist from Schuyler Seyfert and Seyfert added two goals of his own later in the period to make it 5-1.

Freshman Mac Alboreo had 21 saves in goal for Marshfield (1-2). The Tigers return to action Thursday for their Wisconsin Valley Conference opener at Wausau East.
