MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield volleyball team opened up defense of its back-to-back Wisconsin Valley Conference titles with a dominating 3-0 sweep of Stevens Point before a packed house at the Chips Hamburgers Fieldhouse at Marshfield High School on Thursday night.

The Tigers rolled 25-18, 25-16, 25-16.

Abby Ongna had 14 kills and Caitlyn Pernsteiner added 12 kills for Marshfield and they were in full control throughout the match.

Setter Reinya Balderson had 37 assists, Lauren Homolka had six blocks, and Elise Uphoff had eight digs to lead the Tigers defense.

Emma Barton had eight kills and Emma Jossie had 14 assists for Stevens Point.

Marshfield will host a six-team tournament on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
