MARSHFIELD – Stevens Point Pacelli’s Adam Eiden outran Columbus Catholic’s Isaac Scheer to win the boys race and help the Cardinals claim the team title at the Marshfield Tiger Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Wildwood Park.
Eiden finished in 16:43.5, five seconds ahead of Scheer, who finished third at the meet last year. Connor Sheahan of Athens was a close third, less than one second behind Scheer.
Marshfield’s Owen Hoerneman placed eighth to lead the Tigers, who didn’t have a complete team and didn’t figure in the team standings.
Pacelli finished with 70 points, six better than Athens. Stratford was third with 105, Auburndale took eighth with 184, and Columbus Catholic was 12th with 318. Spencer also had a incomplete team.
Cree Defoe led Stratford with a 10th-place finish in 17:50.9, with teammate Lance Krieg taking 17th in 18:53.8.
Mason White Eagle led Auburndale, taking 23rd in 19:00.2.
Medford won the girls team title behind race winner Meredith Richter, who finished in 20:09.9, 21½ seconds in front of runner-up Rory Salveson of Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
Medford finished with 38 points, with Stratford a distant second with 87. Marshfield was fourth with 103, and Columbus Catholic and Spencer had incomplete teams.
Kayla Casperson of Stratford finished fifth in 20:59.4, with Breleigh Skaya 14th (22:07.4) and Ella Heidemann 15th (22:09.9).
Natalie Scharenbroch had a top-10 finish for the Marshfield girls, taking eighth in 21:30.6. Carolina Sullenger finished 23rd (23:12.4), Lauryn Katzenberger took 27th (23:30.8), Ava Raab was 28th (23:31.8) and Kassidy Christopher was 29th (23:32.4) to round out the Tigers’ scoring.
Zaprina Bulla Ruiz was 49th (25:17.7) to lead the Spencer girls, while Katelyn Casperson was Columbus Catholic’s top runner, taking 52nd in 25:33.5.
