MARSHFIELD – Marshfield swept the three doubles matches, but came up short as Wausau East won all four singles matches and defeated the Tigers 4-3 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls tennis match Thursday at the Boson Tennis Complex.
Sam Ridgway and Danielle Minsaas earned a hard-fought three-set win over Stella Glaser and Maggie Winter, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles for Marshfield.
The Tigers’ No. 2 team of Sophia Morrell and Ava Paape, and the No. 3 team of Ashley Grancorvitz and Ruhi Shah, both won 6-0, 6-2.
Marshfield, which falls to 1-2 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, will take a week off before hosting Stevens Point on Sept. 15 at 4 p.m.
