WAUSAU – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic overcame an early deficit, scoring four unanswered goals to outlast Wausau Newman Catholic 5-2 in a Central Wisconsin Conference soccer game Thursday at Newman Catholic High School.
Newman scored at the 6:16 mark before Charlie Moore scored in the 13th minute to tie the game for the Dons.
The Cardinals scored again before Columbus Catholic stormed back.
Alex Edwards tied it again 23:31 into the game and the score held until halftime.
Moore, Cade Jansen and Edwards all scored in a 7½ minute span in the second half to give the Dons the victory.
Lucas Kreklau had five saves in goal for Columbus Catholic, which has now won eight games in a row and improves to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the CWC. Newman is now 1-4 and 1-2 in the conference.
Columbus Catholic is off until next Thursday when it hosts Amherst for a CWC contest.
