AMHERST – Amherst scored four first-quarter touchdowns and never looked back, going on to a 54-0 shutout of Spencer/Columbus in a Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division football game Friday at Amherst High School.
Amherst racked up 377 yards and held Spencer/Columbus to just 69 to win its third-straight game and improve to 3-2 overall and 3-0 in the CWC Large.
Spencer/Columbus had 72 yards rushing on 28 carries and was held to five first downs, falling to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference. The Rockets will have to win their final four games to keep its postseason streak of eight consecutive seasons alive.
Mathew Glodowski threw for 155 yards and a touchdown, and ran for 63 more and two scores to lead the Falcons.
Nasiah Holland added two rushing touchdowns and recovered a fumble in the end zone for another score for Amherst.
Spencer/Columbus will play at Nekoosa (0-5, 0-3 CWC) next Friday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m.
