EAU CLAIRE – The Stratford JV2 football team defeated Eau Claire North 38-14 on Thursday at Carson Park to remain undefeated this season at 4-0.
After exchanging punts, the Tigers ended a drive with a 6-yard touchdown run by Brady Berg. Berg ran in the 2-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.
The Huskies answered right back with a quarterback scramble that resulted in a 58-yard touchdown to narrow the score to 8-6.
A 27-yard touchdown pass from Berg to Colton Breit and a 2-point conversion run by Brooks Vanderhoof gave the Tigers a 16-6 lead at halftime.
After a Breit interception on the second play of the half, the Tigers controlled the ball the rest of the third quarter and scored on the second play of the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run by Vanderhoof. Ryan Christopherson caught the 2-point conversion pass for a 24-6 lead.
The Tigers added two more scores on a 6-yard rush by Collin Cournoyer and a 2-point conversion run by Berg, and Riley Spindler had a 7-yard TD run to close out the scoring for the Tigers
Eau Claire North did add a late touchdown pass, but Stratford was able to hold off the Huskies for the win.
Breit added another interception to lead the defense with Trygve Aschenbrenner and Lucas Forrest also playing well.
The Tigers host Antigo this Thursday at 5 p.m. at JV Field at Marshfield High School before finishing its season Sept. 29 at Eau Claire Memorial.
