MARSHFIELD – The Stratford football JV2 team used an impressive first half and defeated Antigo 48-0 on Thursday at Marshfield High School.
The Tigers improved their record to 5-0 on the season.
On Antigo’s third offensive play, Zander Zawislan intercepted a pass and returned it to the end zone for a quick score. Brady Berg ran in the 2-point conversion for the 8-0 lead for the Tigers.
Brooks Vanderhoof had a 27-yard rushing touchdown, and a 2-point conversion while Berg added a 5-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to make the score 22-0.
After an Alec Chapel fumble recovery, the Tigers scored on 1-yard run by Collin Cournoyer. Zawislan and Berg scored on runs of 23 and 57 yards behind some great blocks from the offensive line. Mason Miller added an extra point to make the score 41-0 at half in favor of Stratford.
Collin Cournoyer scored on a 9-yard run in the fourth quarter and Miller converted the PAT to finish the scoring for the Tigers.
The Tigers were lead on defense by Drew Gage, Reese Terry and Brody Thomer.
Stratford will finish its season next Thursday, Sept. 29, with a 4:30 p.m. contest at Eau Claire Memorial.
