SPENCER – The Stratford girls and Athens boys won team titles at the Auburndale Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday. The meet was held at Frey Field in Spencer.
Stratford had its top nine runners finish in the top 15 to cruise to the girls team title with 20 points. Auburndale, Marshfield Columbus Catholic and Spencer had incomplete teams.
Kayla Casperson led the way for the Tigers, winning the girls race in 20:57, nine seconds ahead of Rib Lake/Prentice’s Kylie Orysen.
Breleigh Skaya was fourth (21:53), Ella Heidmann took fifth (22:03), Samantha Mielke was sixth (22:27) and Kressa Wenzel finished ninth (23:07) to round out Stratford’s scoring runners.
Hope Schulte took sixth for Auburndale in 22:23, Rachel Nieman was 11th in 24:01 for Spencer, and Jenny Schneider finished 23rd in 26:38 for Marshfield Columbus Catholic to lead their respective teams.
Connor Sheahan won the boys race in 16:37 to lead Athens to the team win.
Marshfield Columbus Catholic’s Isaac Scheer had another runner-up finish, taking second 34 seconds behind Sheahan. Stratford’s Cree DeFoe was third in 17:21.
Stratford finished third, Auburndale fourth and Columbus Catholic sixth in the team standings at the eight-team meet.
Mason White Eagle had a top-10 finish for Auburndale, taking eighth in 17:58.
Spencer’s top runner was Malachai Anderson, who was 34th in 20:58.
