MEDFORD – The Stratford JV2 football team came from behind for a 28-22 victory over the Medford Raiders on Thursday in its season finale at Medford High School. The Tigers finish their season with a 7-0 record.
After an opening drive score by Medford, Brady Berg found Colton Breit for a 62-yard touchdown pass to tie up the game early on. Berg found Breit on a 2-point conversion pass for an 8-6 lead for the Tigers.
Medford scored late in the second quarter for a 14-8 lead heading into halftime.
Brooks Vanderhoof caused a fumble and Riley Spindler recovered to get the ball back to the Tigers on a short field. Berg ran in a 2-yard keeper for the touchdown and Lucas Forrest caught the conversion for a brief 16-14 lead for the Tigers. Medford scored on its next possession to regain the lead again, at 22-16.
After a Stratford turnover, Breit intercepted a third down Medford pass and returned it for a touchdown to tie the score.
The Tigers stopped the Raiders on fourth down to get the ball back with not much time left in the game.
Berg found Mason Miller for 27-yard pitch and catch to put Stratford up 28-22. The defense held off any further Medford attempts and was able to run out the clock for the win.
The Tigers were lead on defense with an interception by Cody Randow, a fumble recovery by Jackson Dahlke, and great effort by Brody Thomer, Trygve Aschenbrenner, and Collin Cournoyer.
