AUBURNDALE – Lindsay Gotz scored 10 points and Auburndale used a stifling defensive performance in the first half to down Greenwood 30-19 in the girls basketball teams’ season-opener.
Auburndale led 10-2 after the first quarter and 15-2 at halftime, holding Greenwood to just one basket in the first 16 minutes. The Indians missed all six of their free throw attempts in the first half.
Auburndale finished 6 of 10 from the line, making four of 5 of 8 in the first half as it built its double-digit lead.
Kayla Nikolay and Nicole Nikolay each scored five points for the Apaches.
Auburndale returns to action Monday with a nonconference game at home against Nekoosa.
