Stratford High School football player Braeden Schueller has been voted the Awards ‘n’ More October High School Athlete of the Month.
MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports are co-sponsors of the award for the 2022-23 school year. The monthly award will continue through June 2023, and the winners of the Awards ‘n’ More High School Athlete of the Year, for both male and female athletes, will be announced in July.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Amherst, Athens, Assumption, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, D.C. Everest, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Iola-Scandinavia, Loyal, Marshfield, Mosinee, Neillsville, Newman Catholic, Pacelli, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Rosholt, Spencer, Stratford, Stevens Point, Wild Rose, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln and Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
Schueller received 2,840 of the 6,300 votes cast during voting from Nov. 1-8 at MarshfieldAreaSports.com.
Other nominees for the October award were: Stevens Point cross country runner Bode Erickson, Auburndale volleyball player Josie Ertl, Athens volleyball player Jazelle Hartwig, Assumption football player Nick Leberg, Wittenberg-Birnamwood volleyball player London Metropulos and D.C. Everest cross country runner Sara Mlodik.
Schueller, a senior quarterback, capped off a tremendous month of October with a rushing touchdown, 247 passing yards and three more scores in the Tigers’ 42-0 shutout win over Cadott in a WIAA Division 6 Level 2 playoff game Oct. 28. Schueller threw a pair of TD passes in Stratford’s 54-0 whitewashing of Cumberland in a Level 1 contest Oct. 22, and had 246 yards and two touchdown passes against Amherst in the regular-season finale Oct. 15. He also threw for 188 yards and two TDs in a win over Spencer/Columbus on Oct. 8, and had 66 rushing yards and a score, and 104 passing yards and one touchdown in a victory over Weyauwega-Fremont on Oct. 1.
