LA CROSSE – The Marshfield boys basketball team couldn’t overcome a slow start and dropped its second game in a row, falling 62-58 in a nonconference game at La Crosse Central on Friday night.
Central (2-0) pulled out to a 30-21 lead by halftime, and despite scoring 37 points in the second half, the Tigers came up short.
Henry Meyer had 21 points, Bennett Fried scored 19 points, and Nic Williams added 18 as the trio combined for all but four of the Riverhawks’ points.
Marcus Neve went 8-for-8 from the free throw line and scored 21 points, and Brooks Hinson hit five 3-pointers and chipped in 17 for the Tigers, who are now 1-2.
Marshfield hosts Eau Claire Memorial for a nonconference game Tuesday before opening its Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule Friday, Dec. 9, at Wisconsin Rapids.
