Auburndale boys basketball blasts Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD – The Auburndale boys basketball team came out hot, putting up 50 first-half points and rolling to a 79-28 win over Abbotsford in a Marawood Conference crossover game Friday night at Abbotsford High School.

The Eagles ran out to a 50-11 lead by halftime, effectively ending it early.

Lucas Yeske scored 17 points, and Caden Weinfurter, Evan Scholl and Alex Willfahrt each added 11 points for Auburndale, which is now 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Marawood South.

Noah Schraufnagel had 13 of Abbotsford’s 28 points. The Falcons remain winless at 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the Marawood North.

Auburndale, ranked sixth in the opening Wissports.net Division 4 state coaches’ poll, will travel to play Marshfield Columbus Catholic, the top-ranked team in Division 5, on Monday. Game time is 7:15 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.
