MEDFORD – The Marshfield gymnastics opened its 2022-23 season with a bang, earning the varsity and JV team titles at the Medford Invitational on Saturday at Medford High School.
Ellie Jensen won the uneven bars with a score of 8.625 and was second in the all-around (34.95) as the Tigers varsity finished with a score of 132.175, which was more than five points better than second-place Medford.
Avery Ash of Rice Lake won the all-around title with a 35.75 as she finished first in the balance beam (9.35), floor exercise (9.0) and vault (9.3).
Jensne finished second in the balance beam (8.775) and the floor (8.775), Solenne Lonsdale and Abby Pietsch tied for second in the bars (8.3) and Phoebe Hernandez was second in the vault (8.5) as well for Marshfield.
The Marshfield JV won three of the four individual events and took the team title with 116.45 points.
Paige Treutel won the vault (8.5), Serenah Tippett took first in the floor (8.3) and Karsyn Miller won the uneven bars (7.4) for the Tigers JV.
Marshfield will compete at the La Crosse Triangular on Tuesday.
