MERRILL – The Marshfield girls basketball team dominated the second half to turn a tight game into a blowout victory as the Tigers won 66-35 in their Wisconsin Valley Conference opener Tuesday at Merrill High School.
Marshfield led 32-23 at halftime before holding the Bluejays to just 12 points in the second half to pull away.
Ashley Grancorvitz and Zaida Kolbeck each scored 14 points, Dani Minsaas added 11 points and six steals, and Ayana Bousum had 10 points in the victory for Marshfield, which remains unbeaten this season at 5-0.
Grancorvitz had a team-high eight rebounds, and Kolbeck had six rebounds, five steals and five assists as well for the Tigers.
Marshfield plays at Wisconsin Rapids in the first game of a girls-boys doubleheader on Friday. The girls game starts at 6:30 p.m.
