MARSHFIELD – Marshfield sophomore Brooks Hinson made seven 3-pointers in Tuesday night’s nonconference boys basketball game against Eau Claire Memorial, but a bid for the eighth at the buzzer came up short and Memorial held on for a 68-66 victory at Marshfield High School.

Landon Lee made a pair of free throws with 10 seconds left to bring the Tigers to within one point. Memorial countered with one of two at the line, setting up a final chance for Marshfield before the potential game-winner hit the rim and bounced off, sending the Tigers to their third loss in a row.

Hinson finished with 25 points, Marcus Neve added 13 and Owen Hanson had 10 for Marshfield, which falls to 1-3.

Connor Welsch and Mason Stoik each scored 12 points for Eau Claire Memorial (2-3).

Marshfield will open its Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule at Wisconsin Rapids as part of a girls-boys doubleheader on Friday. The girls game starts at 6:30 p.m. with the boys game to follow.
